The Milwaukee Brewers’ starting rotation is set to receive a major upgrade next week.
According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy, Tobias Myers is expected to rejoin the rotation for the series finale against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Myers, who’s been working his way back from injury, bounced back well from his latest rehab start.
This is a big deal for Milwaukee, especially considering they’ve managed an 11-10 record despite having only Freddy Peralta from their projected starting rotation available all season. While they’d like a stronger start, sitting in second place in the NL Central shows their resilience.
Recent additions like Josè Quintana and Quinn Priester have helped hold things together, but Myers’ return should give the rotation a serious lift. The 25-year-old posted a 3.00 ERA in 27 games last year and brings both talent and depth to the staff.
The Brewers have scrapped their way through the early season, and with Myers returning—and Brandon Woodruff expected back soon—they’re poised to gain serious momentum.
