With Class of 2025 standout Darryn Peterson already committed to Kansas, giving the Jayhawks one No. 1 recruit (per 247 Sports), head coach Bill Self and his staff aren’t slowing down. Now, their attention has shifted to another elite talent: Tyran Stokes, the top-ranked player in the Class of 2026.

Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 245 pounds, Stokes brings a rare mix of power, athleticism, and versatility. He dominates both ends of the court with his downhill explosiveness, smooth shooting touch, and high-level two-way potential.

On last year’s EYBL circuit with the Oakland Soldiers, Stokes averaged 20 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game—highlighting his all-around impact.

Naturally, Kansas has jumped into the mix and scheduled an official visit for Stokes this weekend, according to On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton.

Though Stokes has consistently said he won’t reclassify to the 2025 class, speculation continues after he announced he won’t participate in this summer’s AAU season. In a best-case scenario for Kansas, Stokes could potentially join Peterson in the same class, forming a powerhouse freshman duo.

As it stands, Stokes remains a 2026 prospect, but if Kansas can land him, they’d secure the No. 1 recruit for the second year in a row—keeping the Jayhawks firmly atop the college basketball recruiting world.
