Auburn Strengthens QB Pipeline as 2026 Prospect Travis Burgess Eyes the Tigers
The Auburn Tigers hosted another key recruit last weekend, welcoming three-star quarterback Travis Burgess back to campus for the first time since January. Following his visit, On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted that Burgess would ultimately commit to Auburn. As of now, 247Sports lists the Tigers as the only school classified as “warm” in his recruitment.
Burgess Drawn to Auburn’s Atmosphere
Burgess praised the coaches, environment, and community, emphasizing that Auburn’s appeal goes beyond football.
“Once you have a community behind you, it’s hard to turn down a program like this,” Burgess stated, noting how fan engagement and school spirit left a lasting impression.
Auburn’s Long-Term QB Plan
Landing Burgess would be a major win for Auburn, solidifying their quarterback depth through 2027. With Jackson Arnold arriving via the portal and five-star Deuce Knight in the mix for 2025, the Tigers can now focus on securing Burgess for 2026 and potentially Champ Smith for 2027.
Burgess’ Resume & Other Suitors
The Grayson High School (Loganville, GA) standout is a two-time state champion and has a shot at a third title in his senior season.
2024 Stats:
- 154-for-256 passing (2,255 yards, 23 TDs, 4 INTs)
- 58 rushing attempts (596 yards, 4 TDs)
Other schools in contention include Duke, Wisconsin, Appalachian State, and Arizona State, but Auburn remains the front-runner.
Final Visit & Commitment Timeline
Burgess is scheduled for an official visit to Auburn on May 30, which will likely be the Tigers’ last chance to seal the deal before his final decision.
