Notre Dame has excelled in linebacker recruiting under head coach Marcus Freeman, assembling a talented group that includes Drayk Bowen, Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Jaiden Ausberry, and Jaylen Sneed.
The 2026 recruiting class is already off to a strong start with Thomas Davis Jr. on board, and momentum continues to build—especially with Notre Dame emerging as a frontrunner for Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial standout Tank King.
King recently scheduled three official visits, including stops at Texas A&M (June 6-8), Texas (June 13-15), and Notre Dame (June 20-22). With a summer decision approaching, the Irish could have the final word in his recruitment.
Currently considered the team to beat, Notre Dame is battling an impressive list of suitors, including Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, and Tennessee, among others.
Ranked No. 174 overall and the No. 12 linebacker in the 2026 class by 247Sports Composite, King has been a dominant force at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. His standout sophomore season saw him rack up 138 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and eight pass breakups, further solidifying his status as one of Texas’ top defensive prospects.
