One Yankees legend is fully on board with the team’s new facial hair policy. Former captain and Hall of Famer Derek Jeter showed his approval by posting a photoshopped image of himself in Yankees pinstripes with a full beard, captioning it: “New Rules!!”
Jeter, who won five World Series titles under the team’s strict grooming standards, was known for his clean-shaven look. His former teammate CC Sabathia, now sporting facial hair at Yankees Spring Training, responded enthusiastically: “MY CAPTAIN!!”
The change, implemented by owner Hal Steinbrenner after nearly 50 years, has drawn mixed reactions. Jeter’s successor, Aaron Judge, is not a fan, stating he won’t grow a beard and believes team rules instill discipline. Meanwhile, former Yankee Johnny Damon has spoken out in favor of keeping the old policy.
