The Washington Capitals have a number of promising prospects in their system. Here’s a look at players who could be called up soon, if not already in the near future.
Ryan Leonard: Leonard has been impressive this season, shining for both Boston College and Team USA at the World Juniors. He recorded 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) in the tournament and has added 15 goals and 7 assists for 22 points with Boston College. A call-up could come later this season, depending on how he helps BC chase glory—perhaps even sooner than expected.
Terik Parascak: The 18-year-old is lighting it up in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars, tallying 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points. He’s projected to finish with 33 goals and 56 assists for 89 points. Parascak was selected 17th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Vincent Iorio: Playing with the Hershey Bears, Iorio, a defenseman, has recorded 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points. He’s projected to finish the season with 6 goals and 20 assists for 26 points while leading Hershey toward their third straight Calder Cup.
Ivan Miroshnichenko: Miroshnichenko has split his season between the Capitals and Hershey. In 18 games with Washington, he has 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points, while in 19 games with the Bears, he’s posted 7 goals and 9 assists for 16 points.
Andrew Cristall: Cristall has been a standout in the WHL, first with the Kelowna Rockets, where he registered 60 points (26 goals, 34 assists) in 28 games. Now with the Spokane Chiefs, he has 16 points (5 goals, 11 assists) in 5 games, including a recent hat trick.
