The Washington Commanders head into Saturday night’s Divisional Round clash against the Detroit Lions with some encouraging news.

Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner, who sat out practice twice earlier in the week, has been cleared and is no longer listed on the injury report.

Bobby Wagner had been dealing with an ankle issue, which kept him out of practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and limited him on Thursday. However, he’s been removed from the injury report and is set to play this weekend.

While this injury could have sidelined Wagner during the regular season, the high stakes of the playoffs mean the Commanders are eager to have him available. Even in his 13th season, Wagner remains one of the most effective players on Washington’s defense.

He led the team with 132 tackles during the regular season, adding two sacks and two fumble recoveries, earning Pro Bowl alternate and Second-Team All-Pro honors. In Washington’s 23-20 Wild Card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he recorded eight tackles and a crucial fumble recovery.

Wagner’s presence will be vital on Saturday, especially against a Detroit Lions team that dominates in the trenches. With RB David Montgomery returning to team up with Jahmyr Gibbs, Wagner will play a key role in helping to contain their powerful rushing attack.
