The Sydney Roosters have disclosed that Sitili Tupouniua is undergoing scans for an issue with his left groin, while Siua Wong has been given the all-clear from any significant injury.
During the Roosters’ victory in Round 1 over the Brisbane Broncos in Las Vegas, both players had to leave the field. Tupouniua experienced discomfort in his left groin and exited early in the second half.
Although the club doesn’t suspect a serious injury, Tupouniua, who returned from an ACL injury last season, will have scans and evaluation as a precautionary measure. He had been playing as an edge forward during the preseason but also saw time at lock due to the team’s depth in second-rowers.
As for Wong, he departed the field late in the second half due to injury. However, the Roosters have confirmed that he’s not seriously injured and will be ready for their Round 2 matchup against the Manly Sea Eagles. Wong, who made a mark with a standout performance in a previous final, started in the second-row in Round 1 and is expected to maintain that role throughout the season.
The Roosters haven’t reported any other injury concerns from Round 1 as they prepare to return from Las Vegas before Round 2.
