Ohio State football has faced a challenging week in recruiting.
The Buckeyes, known for consistently landing elite recruiting classes, suffered a significant loss when five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon. Offord, originally from Birmingham, Alabama, is a standout in the Class of 2025. Ranked as the No. 2 cornerback nationally, the top player from Alabama, and a top-15 player overall, his departure represents a tough blow for the Buckeyes.
Offord announced his decision on social media, confirming the news that reshaped the recruiting landscape. Initially committing to Ohio State in February 2024, Offord had been a target of Tim Walton and Gerran DuHart. Despite his pledge to the Buckeyes, he visited Auburn and Alabama later, leaving room for speculation about his decision.
However, there’s good news for Ohio State fans. The Buckeyes retain a commitment from Devin Sanchez, the No. 1-ranked cornerback in the 2025 class and the fifth-best player overall. Coupled with five-star quarterback Tavien St. Clair’s commitment, Ohio State still boasts a robust incoming class for the future.
Head coach Ryan Day and his staff will undoubtedly focus on maximizing the potential of their recruits to keep Ohio State at the forefront of college football’s elite programs.
