Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of DUI, according to a California Highway Patrol press release obtained by NFL Media (via Grant Gordon of NFL.com). TMZ Sports initially reported the news.
Officers observed a white sedan speeding at 100 mph on northbound US-101 around 5 a.m. Monday. After stopping the vehicle, they identified the driver as Robinson, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. Robinson declined to take a sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. The 30-year-old was cited and released to a “responsible party.”
This arrest occurred just hours after the Rams’ loss to the Eagles on Sunday Night Football, where Robinson recorded two catches, including a two-yard touchdown reception.
In his second season with the Rams, Robinson has made 26 catches for 384 yards and six touchdowns. With both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua sidelined for parts of the season, Robinson has led the wide receiver group in snaps. He signed a one-year, $5 million deal in the offseason.
Robinson could face disciplinary action from the NFL under the league’s personal conduct policy. If he misses games, it could create more opportunities for teammates like Tutu Atwell and Tyler Johnson.
