The 2024 Auburn football season has been a rollercoaster. A dominant 48-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe offered a glimmer of hope, but the Tigers now face a daunting task: defeating Texas A&M and Alabama to secure bowl eligibility.
Former Auburn head coach and current U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville weighed in on the Tigers’ season during a Monday appearance at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club in Birmingham. Speaking with local reporters, Tuberville offered a candid assessment of the 4-6 squad.
“Not very good,” Tuberville said. “Auburn is struggling with consistency. There are times they’ve looked better, but they haven’t been able to finish games in the fourth quarter, and that’s cost them three or four wins. They’ve fallen short in the second half of a lot of games.”
The Tigers endured a challenging start, losing four straight SEC games before bouncing back with a 24-10 win over Kentucky on Oct. 26. However, momentum was short-lived, as a home loss to Vanderbilt followed. After an open week, Auburn regrouped for Saturday’s decisive victory over ULM.
As Auburn heads into the season’s final stretch, the focus will be on finding the consistency Tuberville highlighted and securing crucial wins against tough opponents.
