The Chicago Bears have placed safety Jaquan Brisker on injured reserve due to a concussion, with general manager Ryan Poles suggesting that his return this season is uncertain.
“It just wasn’t making the progress that we wanted,” Poles explained. “From a performance standpoint, when you’re out of football for a while, there has to be a ramp-up period to get your body ready to play and avoid other injuries, like soft tissue issues.
“We’re going to hit the pause button and ensure he’s in a good space. Our number one priority is the health of our players, so we’re slowing this down and allowing him the time he needs to recover. While we’d love to see him back this year, we’ll take it one week at a time.”
Brisker’s Concussion History
Brisker has been in concussion protocol since October 7, following the Bears’ win against the Carolina Panthers. He reported concussion-like symptoms the next day and didn’t travel with the team for their London game.
This marks Brisker’s third concussion in three seasons. As a rookie, he missed two games after sustaining one against the Falcons. The following year, he played through a game after a collision during a two-point conversion but was later diagnosed with a concussion that caused him to miss the next game.
Brisker has now missed five consecutive games and is already ruled out for the Bears’ Week 11 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. With his health and recovery as the primary focus, the team will proceed cautiously before considering his return.
