The Detroit Lions are eagerly awaiting the return of veteran edge rusher Marcus Davenport for their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. After sitting out Week 2 due to a groin injury, Davenport has been listed as a full participant in practice, signaling his readiness to rejoin the team on the field. His return is expected to provide a significant boost to Detroit’s pass rush, which performed admirably without him, tallying 14 pressures in their narrow loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his Week 1 debut against the Los Angeles Rams, Davenport made an immediate impact, recording six pressures and half a sack, showcasing his ability to take the pressure off rising star Aidan Hutchinson. However, concerns about Davenport’s durability persist given his injury history, with experts pointing out that the Lions might need to explore additional EDGE depth as the season progresses.

Marcus Davenport is already missing practice with the Lions

Head coach Dan Campbell has expressed optimism, noting Davenport’s strong progress in practice. If all goes well, his return could be pivotal for the Lions’ defense as they seek to rebound from their 20-16 loss and get back on track this Sunday.
