After weeks of unsettling developments surrounding Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class, despite holding the No. 1 national ranking, the Buckeyes finally received some positive news this weekend with a new offensive line commitment.

On Saturday, four-star lineman Jayvon McFadden announced his commitment to Ohio State.

Jayvon McFadden, a Maryland native, is currently ranked as the No. 25 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 11 player from his home state, according to the 247Sports Composite. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, McFadden held approximately 30 offers but narrowed his list to four schools before making his decision. Ultimately, the Buckeyes won the battle over Colorado, Maryland, and South Carolina, with Ohio State being the only school he took an official visit to.

McFadden has made several visits to Columbus throughout his recruiting journey, including attending the Michigan State game last season when he first received his Ohio State offer. He returned for the Buckeyes’ spring game earlier this year and was most recently in town for his official visit on June 7. While some speculated that McFadden might commit during that visit, he opted to take his time before ultimately choosing Ohio State this past weekend.

Primarily listed as an interior lineman, McFadden has experience playing both guard and tackle for Riverdale Baptist but is expected to project as a guard at the next level. However, his size could potentially allow him to play tackle, depending on his development. Regardless, McFadden adds another valuable piece to Ohio State’s offensive line for this recruiting cycle, joining fellow commits Carter Lowe and Jake Cook.

With McFadden’s commitment, the Buckeyes now have 25 total commits in their 2025 class, maintaining their position as the nation’s top-ranked group. However, Ryan Day and his staff will continue to work on adding more talent to the class. In addition to securing their current commits through signing day, Ohio State will also be pursuing a few potential flips, such as running back Anthony Rogers and offensive lineman Micah DeBose from Alabama and defensive tackle Malik Autry from Auburn, among others.
