Dan Toulson has signed his first professional contract with Leeds United after playing a key role in the club’s run to the FA Youth Cup final
Leeds United have agreed on a first professional contract with Dan Toulson, one of last season’s FA Youth Cup heroes. The 18-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the club, just two months after playing a key role on the left of the under-18s defense in the May final.
Toulson, who played every minute of the competition, impressed with his versatility and leadership. He also made an impact with Scott Gardner’s Under-21s, prompting United to secure his first professional deal as he continues to develop.
The club statement reads: “Leeds United are pleased to announce Dan Toulson has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 18-year-old has penned a one-year deal, which will see him continue his development at Thorp Arch until 2025.
“A versatile defensive option, Toulson featured as a holding midfielder, center-half, and left-back last season, starring for both the Whites’ under-18 and under-21 sides. Playing every minute of our FA Youth Cup journey in the previous campaign, Toulson proudly led his teammates out at the Etihad Stadium, as they reached the final of the prestigious competition.
“Everyone at Elland Road would like to congratulate Dan on signing professional terms with the club, and we look forward to seeing his development over the coming season.”
More contract deals with the club’s academy talents are expected to be announced over the next 24 hours. On Tuesday, Reuben Lopata-White’s first professional deal, Harry Christy’s new contract, and Joe Richards’s first contract were announced.
