Chelsea are poised to sign Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after agreeing on a £30 million ($38m) fee, sources have told ESPN.
The 25-year-old is set to undergo a medical in the coming days and has agreed in principle to a contract that would keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2030.
Brighton was close to finalizing a deal with Leicester for Dewsbury-Hall, involving a cash-plus-player transfer with Poland midfielder Jakub Moder heading to Leicester. However, those talks fell through after Dewsbury-Hall expressed his desire to move to London once Chelsea showed interest.
The move will reunite him with former Leicester boss Enzo Maresca, who starts as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor on Monday.
Dewsbury-Hall played a crucial role in Leicester’s successful Championship campaign under Maresca last season, starting 41 of their 46 games.
Separately, Chelsea academy graduate Michael Golding might join Leicester, although this deal is not connected to Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer.
