Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as new manager Steve Cooper discusses his squad and transfers

New manager Steve Cooper has provided an update on Leicester City’s transfer activities.

Following their Championship title win and promotion to the Premier League under former boss Enzo Maresca last season, the Foxes are gearing up for the top flight. Cooper, who signed a three-year contract and took charge at the King Power Stadium last Thursday, has swiftly started work on transfers.

Securing a new striker is likely a priority for Cooper after Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract ended this summer. He currently has Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Tom Cannon as his striker options. The future of Wilfred Ndidi is also uncertain, with the club confirming earlier this month that contract negotiations with the midfielder are ongoing.

In an interview with the club, Cooper commented on the squad and potential transfers: “We’ve got a lot of talent, a lot of character, and many good attributes in the squad already. With the right additions, which the club is working hard to bring in, we’ll give ourselves the best chance of achieving the objectives we’ll set for next season.”
