A long-time player for the St George Illawarra Dragons, forward Jack de Belin might be changing teams as a rival club shows interest in him. Currently in the final year of a four-year contract signed in 2020, de Belin will be a free agent in 2025 as he approaches his 33rd birthday.

As he considers his options for the future, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have expressed interest in him, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

However, the Rabbitohs would need to release a few players to stay within the salary cap if they want to recruit de Belin for next season.

Additionally, there are rumors linking de Belin to a possible move to the Super League club Leigh Leopards next season.

Earning around $750,000 per year, the three-time NSW Blues representative recently stated that he prefers to stay with the Dragons but might consider other offers if they are more lucrative.

“I’d love to stay here; that’s my plan. I’ve always wanted to be a one-club player,” de Belin told AAP.

“I haven’t really discussed it with my manager yet. He just told me to focus on playing well, so that’s what I’ve been doing.”

Jack de Belin is not the only Dragon whose contract ends after the 2024 season.

The club has eight other players who will be off-contract at the end of 2024, including Tom Eisenhuth, Mathew Feagai, Max Feagai, Jesse Marschke, Michael Molo, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Savelio Tamale, and Alec Tuitavake.
