Catcher Payton Henry of the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons was released from the hospital on Saturday, a day after being struck by a batter’s backswing and taken off the field on a stretcher.
“I’m doing pretty good and hoping to recover as quickly as possible,” Henry shared on the social platform X, expressing gratitude for the prayers and concern.
Henry was hit in the back of the head by a swing from Syracuse Mets third baseman Pablo Reyes during the seventh inning on Friday night. He fell to the ground upon impact and was promptly attended to by athletic trainers.

Officials decided to suspend the game following the injury. The Mets were leading 4-2 at NBT Bank Stadium when play was halted.

Later that night, the Bisons reported that Henry was “alert and appropriately responsive” at the hospital following what they described as a “scary incident.” In a statement released Saturday announcing Henry’s discharge, they mentioned that he was “doing well as he continues to rest and recover.”
They also expressed gratitude to the Mets and the medical support team at Upstate University Hospital for their assistance.
Henry, 26, was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round of the 2016 amateur draft and played college baseball at BYU.
