The Arizona Cardinals are starting their organized team activities (OTAs) this week, with a major focus on determining the new starting left tackle after DJ Humphries’s exit. Head coach Jonathan Gannon addressed this issue in his pre-OTA press conference, revealing that Paris Johnson Jr., the sixth overall pick from last season, will move to left tackle, while Jonah Williams, formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals, will take over as the right tackle. Gannon’s full press conference can be found in the link below.

Paris Johnson Jr’s Versatility Is a Strength for the Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals were particularly impressed with Paris Johnson Jr. because of his versatility. Although he mainly played left tackle at Ohio State, Johnson Jr. also spent time at both left and right guard during his college career. He excelled as a pass blocker in Columbus, a skill he continued to showcase during his rookie season with the Cardinals.

Following a season at right tackle, Johnson Jr. will return to his familiar position at left tackle. The Cardinals can anticipate a smooth transition, as Johnson Jr. demonstrated last year that he is a quick learner.Jonathan Gannon will assess the position change during OTAs but mentioned that he has “veto power” to reverse the decision and move Paris Johnson Jr. back to right tackle if necessary.
