The Wests Tigers have confirmed that Brydens Lawyers will end their one-million-dollar partnership with the club at the end of the 2024 season.
The law firm initially joined the club as a member in 2015 and later upgraded to a principal shirtfront partnership in 2016. However, in an official statement released today on the Tigers’ website, it was revealed that this partnership would be ending.
CEO Shane Richardson expressed gratitude to Brydens Lawyers for their consistent support over the years, despite the club facing various challenges. This news comes during a turbulent period for the struggling club. Last December, the former Tigers chairman, who also heads Brydens Lawyers, was removed from his position following an internal review.
There was speculation about the future of the firm’s association with the club beyond their existing contract. NRL journalist Phil Rothfield broke the news, mentioning a scathing letter from the former chairman to the Tigers’ head of corporate partnerships, announcing the end of the relationship between the law firm and the club.
Rothfield reportedly omitted parts of the letter due to potential defamation concerns. However, he highlighted sections where the former chairman criticized the club’s handling of his departure and accused key stakeholders of cowardice.
The letter also mentioned the lack of engagement from the club’s CEO in discussions about the sponsorship’s continuation, which further strained the relationship. Brydens Lawyers was contacted for comment but did not respond before publication.
With the end of this partnership, the Tigers now seek a new principal sponsor for the front-of-shirt position before the start of the 2025 season.
