There’s no question Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers turned heads during their unforgettable 2024–25 campaign. After an incredible run to just their second-ever Final Four appearance, the Tigers fell short against SEC rival Florida in San Antonio.
With that historic season in the rearview, Pearl and his staff have gone full throttle into the NCAA transfer portal — and it’s paying off. As one of the nation’s most aggressive programs in the portal this offseason, Auburn just scored another major win.
On Saturday, On3 Sports insider Joe Tipton broke the news:
“BREAKING: Auburn has landed a commitment from top D2 transfer Elyjah Freeman,” he reported.
Freeman, a standout freshman from Lincoln Memorial University, quickly made waves in the 2024–25 season, earning South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors. The Wellington, Florida native made his official visit to Auburn on April 11 and chose the Tigers over major SEC contenders like Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Freeman brings serious production to the Plains. He averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game last season and was lethal from deep, hitting 46.3% of his shots from beyond the arc.
With talk swirling that Auburn could start five new players next season, the program has wasted no time reloading. Freeman joins a strong crop of newcomers that includes Central Florida transfer Keyshawn Hall, Mississippi State’s KeShawn Murphy, and rising prospects Emeka Opurum and Kevin Overton.
Auburn’s not just retooling — they’re reloading for another run.
