Patriots Lean Toward High-Floor Lineman with No. 4 Pick, per Scout Insight
With the NFL Draft fast approaching, speculation around the New England Patriots’ plans for their No. 4 overall pick continues to swirl. Analysts and insiders have floated countless scenarios, but the team’s final decision remains tightly under wraps.
Now, as draft day nears, scouts are beginning to share their thoughts on how the top of the board might shake out—and how New England could respond. One anonymous scout from the NFC South told ESPN that LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell could be the Patriots’ selection at No. 4—if both Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter are taken before their pick.
“He’s a high-floor prospect,” the scout said of Campbell. “His footwork and hand usage are solid. He can hold his own at tackle, but if length becomes an issue, he has All-Pro potential at guard.”
Campbell has emerged as a legitimate contender for the Patriots’ pick, especially for a team still searching for long-term stability on the offensive line. New England’s struggles at left tackle last season have made finding a reliable blindside protector for quarterback Drake Maye a top priority—and Campbell fits that mold.
Though concerns about Campbell’s arm length persist, his performance in the SEC—where he started for three seasons at left tackle without much issue—has helped ease some doubts. Scouts believe he could prove those concerns to be overblown.
If the Patriots’ evaluations match up with what this scout is seeing, Campbell could very well be the pick at No. 4. He offers a blend of reliability, versatility, and upside—exactly what New England may need to anchor its offensive line for years to come.
We’ll know for sure when the Patriots make their move on Thursday, April 24, as the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off in Green Bay.
