Xavier Griffin, the top-ranked linebacker in the 2026 class per 247Sports, may not have officially closed his recruitment, but he’s standing firm on his commitment to the USC Trojans. The five-star prospect from Gainesville, Georgia, has been pledged to USC since July and has consistently emphasized his loyalty to the program.
“I’m fully committed,” Griffin reiterated to 247Sports.
This past weekend, Griffin visited Texas for the first time but made a statement by flashing the USC “V” in a photo attempt with a Longhorns coach—refusing to throw up the “Horns Up” sign, per On3’s Scott Schrader. His Trojan pride was also on display in January when he sported USC gear while coaches from Florida State, Clemson, and Ohio State came to his school.
Griffin is a centerpiece of USC’s No. 1-ranked 2026 recruiting class and is set to return to Los Angeles next weekend, marking his sixth visit. His last trip was for Junior Day in February.
“There’s a lot of energy in LA right now,” Griffin told On3 earlier this year. “Coach Riley has assembled a fantastic coaching staff, and the 2026 class is shaping up strong. I’m especially excited to learn from three coaches with NFL experience. I can’t wait to get started.”
USC is working hard to keep Griffin engaged, planning regular visits until he signs during the early signing period in December. Once spring practice wraps on April 26, USC’s staff will hit the road again, with Griffin expected to be a top out-of-state stop.
Griffin has only one official visit scheduled so far—for USC this summer. Meanwhile, SEC powerhouses Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama are still making their pitch. He recently visited Tennessee and Georgia but maintained his USC commitment.
“I’m fully locked in,” he told 247Sports. “We’re focused on building this ‘26 class, and keeping it No. 1. I’m connecting with guys down here, trying to get them to USC too. I’ve been there a lot and met other commits—we all share the same vision. The coaches are building something special, and we’re ready to be part of it.”
The Trojans currently have 22 commitments, including seven inside the 247Sports Top 100. Griffin headlines a group that features top talent like RJ Sermons, Brandon Lockhart, Simote Katoanga, Jaimeon Winfield, Deshonne Redeaux, and Tomuhini Topui—making USC’s 2026 class one to watch.
