The New York Jets have been making major moves this offseason, shaking things up with a new general manager, head coach, and quarterback. As the NFL Draft nears—now just two weeks away—anticipation is building around what they’ll do with the No. 7 overall pick.

So far, most projections have linked the Jets to offensive linemen, tight ends, or wide receivers. However, there’s also been some buzz about possibly selecting a quarterback, like Ole Miss standout Jaxson Dart—even after the team signed Justin Fields to a $40 million deal.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport recently shared his insight, stating that the Jets appear committed to building around Fields rather than drafting his replacement. While he acknowledged offensive line and tight end as potential targets, Rapoport also threw out an unexpected name: Boise State’s dynamic running back Ashton Jeanty.

“I expect them to build around Justin Fields,” said Rapoport. “They could go O-line or even defensive line with how strong this class is. But Ashton Jeanty could also be in play at No. 7. It might be a bit high for a tight end, but don’t rule anything out.”

Although trade speculation has swirled around star back Breece Hall, there’s no indication the Jets plan to move on from him. Head coach Aaron Glenn recently spoke about Hall and hinted at a committee approach for the backfield—similar to what he used in Detroit.

Jeanty, the Heisman runner-up, put up eye-popping numbers last season with 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns across 14 games. Now, it looks like the Jets could be the latest team eyeing him as a potential top-10 pick.
