St. Louis CITY SC has signed MLS SuperDraft pick Joey Zalinsky to a first-team contract through the 2025 season, with club options extending through 2028. The former Rutgers defender, selected 37th overall in the second round, impressed during preseason, featuring in five of six matches.
Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel praised Zalinsky’s effort and work ethic, noting his potential to contribute to the squad. The New Jersey native, who developed in the New York Red Bulls academy, made 17 appearances for Red Bulls II before playing collegiate soccer at Rutgers, where he tallied two goals and two assists in 59 matches.
Zalinsky is eligible for selection in St. Louis’ MLS season opener against the Colorado Rapids at Energizer Park.
