The Atlanta Braves are set to kick off their Spring Training schedule with a matchup against the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers. Leading the way in their 2025 opener is one of the franchise’s most promising young talents.

Top catching prospect Drake Baldwin will make his spring debut as the designated hitter, batting fifth in the lineup. This marks Baldwin’s third camp in North Port, and excitement continues to build around his potential as he gets a chance to showcase his skills in live action.

Baldwin impressed in Triple-A last season, hitting .298 with an .891 OPS, 12 home runs, and 55 RBIs over 72 games. His on-base percentage (.407) and disciplined approach at the plate—walking 52 times while striking out just 54—earned him Baseball America’s Braves Minor League Player of the Year honor. Now considered the organization’s top prospect by MLB.com, Baldwin further bolstered his stock in the Arizona Fall League, slashing .377/.452/.491 in 13 games.

Joining Baldwin in the starting lineup is No. 4 prospect Nacho Alvarez, who will play third base and bat sixth. Alvarez made his MLB debut last season after an injury sidelined Ozzie Albies. Additionally, offseason acquisition Nick Allen will get a shot at shortstop as he looks to prove himself at the big league level.

With top young talent taking the field, Braves fans will get an early look at the future of the franchise.
