Downers Grove, Ill. quarterback Owen Lansu, a 2026 prospect, has been verbally committed to Minnesota since July and remains confident in his early decision. He has embraced the program, forming connections with former Gophers quarterbacks Max Brosmer and Tanner Morgan, as well as future teammate Drake Lindsey.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Lansu is coming off a strong junior season at Downers Grove North High School, where he threw for 1,982 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. Ranked No. 777 nationally, No. 61 among quarterbacks, and No. 21 in Illinois by the 247Sports Composite, he has visited Minnesota’s campus more than five times since 2022, including for the program’s Junior Day on Feb. 1.
During his visit, Lansu was paired with Lindsey, who he believes will lead the quarterback room when he arrives. The Gophers coaching staff also suggested he train with Morgan and his QB Motion brand, which left Lansu impressed and eager to continue learning.
Minnesota’s coaching staff sees similarities between Lansu and Brosmer, which has led to conversations between the two. Lansu admires Brosmer’s success and wants to develop their relationship further.
In an era where early quarterback commitments are rare, Lansu remains fully committed to joining Minnesota, with at least 10 months until he can officially sign. His dedication suggests he is set to be a key part of the Gophers’ future quarterback plans.
