Seattle Seahawks’ 2025 Draft Priorities: Three Key Areas to Address

As the Seattle Seahawks gear up for the 2025 NFL Draft, analyst Ian Hartitz has identified three crucial positions that need reinforcements.

Recapping the 2024 Season

The Seahawks had a rollercoaster season, starting strong at 3-0 and later stringing together four straight wins after their bye week. However, inconsistency cost them a playoff spot despite reaching 10 wins for the first time since 2020. With the franchise leading the NFL in active cash spending ahead of 2025, it’s shaping up to be a pivotal “win-or-else” season for quarterback Geno Smith and the coaching staff.

Seattle’s Three Biggest Roster Needs

1. Offensive Line

Seattle’s offensive line was a major weakness in 2024, ranking 31st per PFF and struggling in both pass protection and run blocking. Despite this, the front office has largely ignored the unit in recent years, using only one top-50 draft pick on the O-line in the last eight drafts. With starting center Connor Williams retiring midseason, it’s time for the Seahawks to invest in this area.

2. Pass Catchers

While not an urgent crisis, Seattle’s receiver group could see changes for salary cap reasons. Trade rumors have swirled around DK Metcalf, while veteran Tyler Lockett (turning 33 next season) could be a cap casualty. Tight end Noah Fant is another potential cut candidate, meaning the Seahawks may need to reload their receiving corps.

3. Linebacker

Seattle’s linebacker room lacks depth and financial investment, a stark contrast to the Mike Macdonald-led Ravens defense that featured high-paid LB Roquan Smith. With Bobby Wagner gone and Ernest Jones hitting free agency, the Seahawks must revamp this position to bolster their defense.

Looking Ahead

With limited cap space and key departures looming, the Seahawks must be strategic in addressing these issues. Whether through free agency or the draft, Seattle faces a crucial offseason to ensure they remain competitive in 2025.
