Gophers Make History with Record Six Players Invited to NFL Scouting Combine

With the 2024 seasons for both the Minnesota Gophers and Minnesota Vikings in the rearview mirror, attention now shifts to the 2025 NFL Draft. One of the first major events leading up to it is the NFL Scouting Combine, set to take place from February 27 to March 2 in Indianapolis. While the combine is often seen as a networking hub for executives and media, it remains a crucial showcase for college prospects looking to prove their worth.

This year, the Minnesota Gophers will be well-represented, as six of their players have received invites—setting a new program record. Quarterback Max Brosmer, defensive end Jah Joyner, cornerback Justin Walley, wide receiver Daniel Jackson, offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery, and linebacker Cody Lindenberg will all have the chance to impress scouts on the national stage.

Breaking Down Minnesota’s Standout Prospects

Max Brosmer (QB, 6’2”, 225 lbs)
A transfer from New Hampshire, Brosmer made an immediate impact in 2024, setting a Gophers single-season record with 268 completions and finishing third in school history with 2,828 passing yards. He also threw 18 touchdowns to just six interceptions. His sharp play earned him Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors and a spot in the East-West Shrine Bowl, further raising his draft stock.

Jah Joyner (DE, 6’5”, 250 lbs)
Joyner was a force on the defensive line, tallying 4.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. He was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team, thanks to his ability to pressure quarterbacks (22 hurries) and disrupt passing lanes (seven pass breakups).

Daniel Jackson (WR, 6’0”, 200 lbs)
Jackson led the Gophers’ receiving corps in 2024, hauling in 75 catches for 863 yards and four touchdowns. His versatility allows him to line up both inside and outside, and his strong hands make him an underrated prospect heading into the draft.

Aireontae Ersery (OT, 6’6”, 320 lbs)
As a key piece of Minnesota’s offensive line, Ersery excelled at left tackle, posting a 77.3 pass-blocking grade per Pro Football Focus. He allowed just one sack all season, solidifying his status as a potential first- or second-round pick.

Cody Lindenberg (LB, 6’3”, 235 lbs)
Lindenberg led the Gophers with 94 total tackles in 2024, showcasing his instincts and ability to control the middle of the field. His strong run defense (79.3 PFF grade) makes him a solid NFL prospect.

Justin Walley (CB, 5’11”, 185 lbs)
As Minnesota’s top cornerback, Walley racked up 42 tackles, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. He played more defensive snaps than any other Gophers CB and was effective both in coverage and run support.

A Program on the Rise

Minnesota’s record-setting presence at the combine signals the strength of its program and development under head coach P.J. Fleck. With six players receiving national attention, the Gophers are proving they can produce top-tier NFL talent. Now, these six standouts have a chance to boost their draft stock and leave their mark at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.
