Ohio State’s offseason is already in full swing after their championship-winning run in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. With a shorter offseason ahead, head coach Ryan Day faces significant roster turnover and unexpected coaching changes, including the loss of both offensive and defensive coordinators, as well as the offensive line coach.

Despite these transitions, Ohio State has been proactive in recruiting for the 2026 class, securing four verbal commitments, headlined by five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. The Buckeyes wasted no time hitting the recruiting trail, visiting top targets like four-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson from Grayson High School in Georgia. Atkinson, the No. 1 linebacker in the 2026 class and a top-10 overall prospect, has longstanding ties with the Buckeyes and has visited campus multiple times.

Though powerhouse programs like Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and Miami are also in pursuit, Ohio State remains a strong contender for Atkinson’s commitment. He is currently planning his official visits and is expected to keep the Buckeyes in the mix.

In other recruiting news, Ohio State added three-star quarterback Jaystin Gwinn as a preferred walk-on for 2025, while the men’s basketball program saw 2025 power forward A’mare Bynum climb nearly 30 spots in the latest recruiting rankings.

With a championship celebration behind them, the Buckeyes are now focused on reloading for another title run.
