With seven Super Bowl rings, Tom Brady has solidified his place as a football legend for generations to come. Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick recently discussed Brady’s profound influence on the NFL and the sport, suggesting the league should honor him in a big way.
On his Let’s Go! podcast, Belichick emphasized the importance of players in winning games, noting, “You can’t win games without good players. I don’t care who the coach is, it’s impossible.” He credited talented players, including Brady, for their role in victories. “Those are the guys that won the games, man. I didn’t make any tackles or kicks,” Belichick added.
Belichick also highlighted the role of coaching in giving players the tools to succeed, recalling advice from Coach Bill Parcells: “There’s always a way to win. You just have to figure out what it is and give the players a chance.”
When co-host Jim Gray pointed out that the Vince Lombardi Trophy is named after a coach, Belichick suggested, “Maybe they should name it the Brady Trophy. He won seven of them.”
While some fans believe Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes might be the only player today who could match Brady’s success, Mahomes, at 29, already holds three Super Bowl rings and is in the running for a fourth this year. With Brady retiring at 44, Mahomes certainly has time to chase down that record. The Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will face off in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
