After more than four years away from coaching, Chuck Pagano is making a return to the Baltimore Ravens in a new role.

The 64-year-old has been named the Baltimore Ravens‘ senior secondary coach, reuniting with John Harbaugh and the team he previously coached from 2008-2011—first as a secondary coach before taking over as defensive coordinator in his final season.

Pagano last served as the Chicago Bears’ defensive coordinator from 2019-2020 before stepping away from coaching. Since then, he has mostly stayed out of football, aside from frequent appearances on The Pat McAfee Show.

His return to the sideline is not just a big moment for him, but for his family as well.

“My wife, Tina, she’s fired up,” Pagano shared on The Pat McAfee Show. “But now you wake up at 2:30 in the morning, the wheels are spinning. You’ve got all this responsibility again. She’s excited, and Baltimore was such a great place for us as a family.”

Pagano added that he plans to live near Baltimore’s Little Italy, a spot he and his wife enjoyed during his previous tenure with the Ravens.

Coming out of retirement in his mid-60s is uncommon, but the chance to help Harbaugh and the Ravens chase a championship was too enticing to ignore.

“The thing that pulls you off the couch is the opportunity to win—and win it all,” Pagano said. “They’ve built a phenomenal roster. They are a wagon from top to bottom.”
