After the Denver Broncos‘ playoff elimination, quarterback Bo Nix has revealed a stunning secret about his rookie NFL season.

The Denver Broncos’ 2024 NFL season came to a close after their elimination by the Bills. In the aftermath, quarterback Bo Nix unveiled a startling secret about his rookie year with the AFC West team.

During the 2024 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos made a pivotal move, selecting quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick. Nix, one of the most seasoned prospects in the class, brought five years of college experience—three with Auburn and two with Oregon—into his rookie NFL season. His maturity and skill helped guide the Broncos back to the playoffs after a nine-year drought.

Although the Broncos fell to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round, Nix’s rookie campaign offered plenty of hope for the future. Despite a slow start, he showed consistent improvement, leading the team to a respectable 10-7 record. Fans and analysts alike see Nix as the franchise quarterback Denver has been searching for.

Recently, Nix revealed a surprising challenge he faced during his rookie season. Beginning in Week 13, he played with a transverse process fracture in his back, a painful injury he sustained during a Monday Night Football matchup. While Nix didn’t use the injury as an excuse, he admitted it caused discomfort and required extensive treatment.

“The biggest week was I had a transverse process fracture in my back,” Nix shared via Mike Klis of 9News. “That week, I got treatment, made it through. Monday Night Football was a stretch where we were all kind of banged up, and I wasn’t going to miss the first Monday night game. We had a bye the following week, and that helped it settle down.”

As the Broncos shift their focus to the 2025 season, they’re looking to bolster their roster through the NFL Draft. Adding offensive weapons—particularly at wide receiver and tight end—is a priority to support Nix’s development and elevate the team’s performance. With a healthy and determined Bo Nix at the helm, the future looks bright for Denver.
