Kenedy Uzoma, a 2026 recruit from Lanham, Maryland, announced on X Monday night that he is reopening his recruitment. After verbally committing to the Gophers on July 27, 2024, Uzoma has decided to explore other options.

“I would like to thank Minnesota and its staff for the opportunity they’ve given me. That being said, I’d like to announce that I have fully reopened my recruitment,” he shared on X.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 203 pounds, Kenedy Uzoma was a standout two-way player for Saint John’s Catholic Prep during his junior season. On offense, he recorded 34 receptions for 817 yards and 12 touchdowns, while on defense, he contributed 24 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks.

Although Minnesota recruited Uzoma as a defensive end, his recent post on X suggests he may be considering a future at wide receiver. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, he is ranked as the 543rd-best player in the country and the 80th-best wide receiver.

Uzoma holds notable offers from Vanderbilt, Temple, and Marshall, with increasing interest from Penn State. As a result, he could quickly become one of the top recruits in the 2026 class. Minnesota currently has three verbal commitments for 2026: quarterback Owen Lansu, offensive lineman Andrew Trout, and defensive lineman Howie Johnson.
