Top recruiting prospect keeps an eye on the action unfolding on the Plains. Five-star edge rusher and Maryland commit Zion Elee is set to visit the Auburn Tigers later this month, as confirmed by the recruit himself in a report from On3’s Chad Simmons.
According to 247 Sports, Zion Elee is ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the country and the top edge rusher. A scouting report from May 2024 praised him as “one of the more complete edge prospects in recent memory.” Securing a recruit of his caliber would be a huge statement for Auburn.
Auburn is already making strides on the 2026 recruiting trail, with six verbal commits, including a top-10 edge rusher and two top-20 linebackers. Currently ranked sixth in the nation, they’re third in the SEC, trailing only Texas A&M and Tennessee—who boasts a five-star commit, quarterback Faizon Brandon, the only recruit ranked higher than Elee.
Landing Elee would give Auburn a chance to surpass their strong 2025 class, which is also ranked sixth and at one point was in the top five. With six top-10 recruits in various positions, including safeties, linebackers, quarterbacks, defensive linemen, and edge rushers, Auburn has already locked down nearly every top recruit from Alabama.
Now, Auburn is eyeing the top recruit from Maryland, adding another potential star to their already impressive 2026 class.
