The Las Vegas Raiders have begun their search for a new head coach to help restore the franchise’s winning culture. Last week, the team parted ways with former head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco, marking a busy start to the offseason as they undergo significant changes.

Owner Mark Davis and minority owner Tom Brady will take the lead in hiring the new coach, with Brady’s experience as a player and his proven track record as a winner expected to heavily influence the decision.

One top candidate for the position is Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who has played a key role in the Lions’ impressive turnaround under head coach Dan Campbell. As one of the league’s top playcallers, Johnson could provide a significant boost to the Raiders if they manage to bring him to Las Vegas.

Sports Illustrated’s Raiders Beat Writer, Hondo Carpenter, reached out to Raider Nation to gauge reactions to the possibility of hiring Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as the next head coach. One fan shared their excitement, saying, “I’d be psyched. I just want a coach smart enough to compete with Reid, Harbaugh, and Payton.” Another fan expressed support for a potential move for Coach Pete Carroll, stating, “I’m warming more to the idea of Coach Carroll taking the job as well. I’d take either. Hopefully, Mark Davis will take a page from the Rooney’s playbook in keeping a coach.”

If the Raiders land Johnson, their next major task will be securing a quarterback. With the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they have several options to select a quarterback or pursue one in free agency.
