Two Gophers defensive players have entered the transfer portal.
Safety Coleman Bryson is transferring, as reported by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Tuesday. Additionally, defensive tackle Martin Owusu is also entering the portal, according to 247Sports‘ Ryan Burns. Both players still have multiple years of eligibility left.
Bryson, a native of Waynesville, N.C., appeared in all 13 games during the past two seasons. Over his three years with Minnesota, he recorded 54 tackles, five passes defended, and one interception across 31 career games. This past season, he contributed 20 tackles and three passes defended. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Bryson has two years of eligibility remaining.
Owusu, a native of Prior Lake, Minn., appeared in one game this season, recording a single tackle. Redshirted in 2023, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this year. With three years of eligibility left, Owusu was a three-star recruit, as rated by 247Sports, coming out of high school.
Both he and Bryson were three-star prospects when they joined the Gophers.
