The Seattle Seahawks have announced several roster changes ahead of their Thursday night prime-time game against the Chicago Bears. The most significant development is the placement of starting running back Ken Walker on injured reserve, officially ending his 2024 season. Walker, who had already been ruled out of tonight’s game with a calf injury, closes the year with 573 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 153 carries, averaging 3.7 yards per attempt.
To fill the void, Zach Charbonnet is set to take over as the starting running back. Meanwhile, 2023 seventh-round pick Kenny McIntosh, a product of the University of Georgia, will step into the role of primary backup. To bolster the depth chart, the Seahawks signed undrafted rookie running back George Holani from the practice squad to the active roster. Holani, who made a strong impression during the preseason, enjoyed a productive college career at Boise State, amassing 3,596 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns across five seasons. As a dual-threat player, he also contributed 88 receptions for 777 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver.
In another roster move, the Seahawks elevated veteran cornerback Artie Burns from the practice squad. Burns, who has dealt with recurring injuries this season, will bring added depth to the secondary. Over the two games he has played this year, Burns logged 28 snaps on special teams and 14 on defense.
These moves reflect the Seahawks’ efforts to adapt to injuries and maintain depth as they prepare for a crucial matchup against the Bears. With Walker’s season-ending injury, the team is looking to Charbonnet, McIntosh, and now Holani to carry the load in the running game, while Burns offers experience and versatility in the secondary.
