Chicago Bears fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the team’s ownership under 101-year-old Virginia McCaskey and her 68-year-old son, George McCaskey. The frustration reached a boiling point after the Bears’ latest loss, a 6-3 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, marking their tenth consecutive loss. The game was particularly disheartening, as the team was unable to capitalize on having the No. 1 draft pick, quarterback Caleb Williams, at the helm.
While Williams threw for 122 yards with an interception and added 37 rushing yards, the loss was not solely his fault. The offensive line allowed seven sacks for a total of 46 yards, and when they weren’t missing blocks, they were committing penalties. Wide receivers also struggled, dropping passes and failing to communicate effectively with Williams. The result was another poor performance in front of 56,346 disappointed fans at Soldier Field.
The ongoing losing streak has left fans demanding change, and many are calling for the McCaskey family to sell the team. A video posted by Jacob Infante from Windy City Gridiron captured fans chanting for the family to “sell the team.” The Bears have not won a home game since defeating the Carolina Panthers 36-10 on October 6, and they will finish the season with a 3-5 home record.
The frustration extends beyond Soldier Field, with fans on social media voicing their discontent as well. One fan wrote, “Sell the team or clean house completely. Warren Poles needs to go,” while another suggested, “Sell the team or get a new expansion team.” Some have even called for the NFL to step in, with one fan stating that the McCaskey family’s ownership has “broken the Chicago Bears” and tarnished the legacy of the team, which was once a leader in professional football.
