Alvin Kamara is currently dealing with a groin injury that he sustained during Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, and interim head coach Darren Rizzi has indicated that the injury may be more severe than initially believed.

Kamara, who has been the focal point of the New Orleans Saints’ offense in 2024, currently leads the team in both rushing yards (950) and receiving yards (543). Despite the Saints’ struggles this season, Kamara has quietly put together one of his best seasons, and there’s a strong possibility he will make his first Pro Bowl since 2021, even if he’s unable to take the field due to the injury.

With key offensive players like Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Taysom Hill dealing with injuries, Kamara has been shouldering an even greater workload than ever before in his career. Despite the Saints’ disappointing season, Kamara dismissed trade rumors earlier in the year and has consistently given his all on the field for the team.

Kamara has already set a career-high in rushing yards with 950, and he’s on the verge of becoming the first player in his career to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season. If his injury keeps him sidelined, it would be a significant setback for both Kamara and the team, especially given how close he is to reaching that milestone.

In the event that Kamara is unable to play, veteran running back Jamaal Williams and second-year player Kendre Miller are expected to step up and take on a larger role in the backfield for as long as Kamara’s absence lasts.
