The Boston Bruins organization has announced the official signing of veteran forward Tyler Pitlick to a contract with their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, for the remainder of the season. Previously on a professional tryout contract (PTO), Pitlick has impressed through the first 15 games of the season, earning a full deal.
The 33-year-old Minnesota native has made a significant impact with Providence, tying for second on the team in goals, ranking third in points, and leading in plus-minus. So far, Pitlick has recorded 5 goals, 6 assists (11 points), a +5 rating, and 22 penalty minutes. His consistent performance fueled speculation that he would secure a formal contract, which was made official this Wednesday.
Pitlick brings a wealth of NHL experience, having played 420 games across multiple teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, and New York Rangers. A depth player throughout his NHL career, he has tallied 56 goals and 53 assists for 109 points.
Originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers 31st overall in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft, Pitlick now adds veteran leadership and versatility to the Providence Bruins lineup as he looks to continue contributing at a high level in the AHL.
