Will Auburn be able to flip 5-star cornerback Na’eem Offord from Ohio State?

As National Signing Day approaches, the Tigers are making a strong push to land the highly coveted recruit, ESPN’s No. 4 overall player and top-ranked cornerback. According to On3 national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong, insiders believe Offord will eventually flip to Auburn. As Auburn On SI’s Daniel Locke pointed out, “With National Signing Day on the horizon, the Auburn Tigers are going all-in to secure Offord as the centerpiece of their 2025 class.”

Auburn’s coaching staff understands the importance of securing top-tier talent like Offord in order to close the talent gap with powerhouse programs such as Georgia, Alabama, and LSU, which is why they’re aggressively pursuing his commitment. There are now strong indications that Auburn could emerge as the final choice for the highly sought-after recruit.

Offord, a standout cornerback from Birmingham (Ala.) Parker, has been committed to Ohio State since February 4, 2024. While flipping an Ohio State commitment is never easy, Offord has maintained close communication with the Auburn coaching staff and has visited the campus multiple times, keeping the Tigers in the running.

Looking ahead, Offord is expected to choose between Ohio State, Auburn, and Oregon, though it’s likely that the final decision will come down to a battle between the Buckeyes and Tigers. Despite multiple visits to Oregon, most intel points to Offord’s decision likely coming down to Ohio State or Auburn.

What’s the next step in this recruitment? While Offord reportedly favors Auburn, there are influences in his camp who lean toward Ohio State. Historically, recruits like Offord tend to have the final say in the decision-making process. He’s the one attending classes and playing football, so the ultimate decision rests with him.

Given that trend, and considering Offord’s long-standing preference for Auburn, the Tigers could very well land him when National Signing Day arrives on December 4.
