The saga between Julian Lewis and the USC Trojans appears to be over. After decommitting from USC last weekend, Lewis officially announced today on the Pat McAfee Show that he will be committing to the Colorado Buffaloes.

This move seems to work out well for both Lewis and USC. While USC’s offense, led by Lincoln Riley, is better suited for 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet—a local California talent—Lewis will be the immediate face of Colorado football, with a likely starting role as a true freshman.

As Steve Wiltfong of On3 reported, after Longstreet committed to USC on Saturday night, Riley and QB coach Luke Huard informed Lewis and his camp that they were moving in a different direction, leading to Lewis’ official decommitment the following day.

Before Lewis’ commitment, Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class was ranked 65th, but his decision bumps them up to 46th, though the program still has work to do. Meanwhile, USC currently sits at 14th in the 2025 class rankings.

With Coach Prime continuing to rely on the transfer portal for talent, especially after losing top players like Travis Hunter, Lewis’ commitment adds another promising chapter to Colorado’s rebuilding effort.

Now, Longstreet stays home and heads to USC, while Lewis begins his new journey in Boulder. The next chapter begins for both quarterbacks.
