“Acaden is one of the most sought-after players in this entire class, and everyone wants to team up with him.”
The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program officially announced the signing of Class of 2025 guards Acaden Lewis and Jasper Johnson on Thursday.
Lewis, a 6-foot-2 left-handed point guard from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., is a consensus top-50 recruit, with Rivals ranking him as high as 20th overall.
“Acaden Lewis embodies everything you want in a great point guard,” said Kentucky head coach Mark Pope in a press release. “He has incredible court vision, a smooth shot, the ability to finish at the rim, and can make any pass. He already understands the strategic, probing style of a point guard. His calm, hungry, and composed demeanor is exactly what you want in a leader. He reminds me of Anthony Epps, with that same quiet toughness and leadership qualities that really excite us.”
“Acaden is one of the most popular players in this class, and everyone wants to play with him. It’s amazing to see how far he’s come—from a lightly recruited prospect to someone in high demand this summer,” Pope added.
Johnson, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Lexington who now plays for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, is also a consensus top-30 recruit. ESPN and 247 Sports have him ranked as high as 13th overall.
“Jasper Johnson is the most dangerous scorer in high school basketball,” Pope said. “He has a unique flair and confidence that will endear him to BBN. His ability to stretch the floor with a 27-foot range forces the defense to adjust around him. His family has a strong legacy at Kentucky, and I believe he’s poised to write the most remarkable chapter of it.”
With these signings, Kentucky now has three early commitments, including center Malachi Moreno, who signed with the Wildcats on Wednesday.
