Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones is expected to avoid missing any games despite suffering a hip injury during Sunday’s 23-17 victory over the New York Jets in London, according to NBC Sports.
Jones left the game in the first half and was listed as questionable to return but did not re-enter the contest. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said after the game that Jones’ condition would be monitored over the next few days.
The Vikings, now 5-0, have a bye next week before hosting their NFC North rival, the Detroit Lions (3-1), in Week 7.
“I’m hopeful that the injury will be short-term,” O’Connell told the *Minnesota Star Tribune*.
Before leaving the game, Jones recorded 29 rushing yards on seven carries and added a 24-yard reception. He had also exited the Vikings’ Week 2 win against the San Francisco 49ers due to a hip issue.
The 29-year-old has accumulated 517 total yards and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in his first season with Minnesota.
Previously with the Green Bay Packers, Jones spent seven seasons there and earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2020. Over 97 games (85 starts) with Green Bay, he amassed 8,016 scrimmage yards and 63 touchdowns (45 rushing, 18 receiving).
In Jones’ absence during the second half, the Vikings managed just 98 total yards and scored six points, but still secured their first 5-0 start since 2016.
