Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman is still recovering from a shoulder injury, but there’s optimism that he may be ready to play in Saturday’s game against Oklahoma. Head coach Hugh Freeze mentioned that while Coleman continues to wear a no-contact jersey during practice, there’s hope he’ll be available for the matchup. “He definitely seems to feel better this week,” Freeze said during the SEC Coaches teleconference. “He went through all the reps yesterday, still in non-contact gear. So it’s uncertain, but I expect him to feel better by Saturday.”
Through the season’s first month, Coleman ranks third among Auburn receivers with 130 yards, averaging 21.7 yards per catch and scoring one touchdown. He played in last week’s loss to Arkansas, recording two catches for 15 yards.
A former consensus five-star recruit from Phenix City, Alabama, Coleman was ranked as the top player in the state, the second-best wide receiver nationally, and the fourth overall prospect in the 2024 class. His commitment was a significant recruiting win for Freeze, with expectations that he’d boost Auburn’s offense.
Coleman delivered early on but has been sidelined since his Week 2 injury. Auburn’s offense, despite some bright spots, has struggled with inconsistency and turnovers this season. The Tigers are currently ranked seventh in the SEC for total offense, fourth in passing, and average 36.5 points per game, placing them seventh in the conference.
