The Washington Commanders are about to face a major challenge. After undergoing a complete franchise overhaul, they are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night.
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has led the Commanders to a 1-1 start, will make his primetime debut. The LSU product has a big chance to prove himself as the future franchise quarterback, especially going up against fellow LSU Heisman winner Joe Burrow.
While the Bengals are favored, a road upset by the Commanders could generate serious momentum for a team looking to improve from last season’s four-win campaign.
On Saturday, the Commanders released their final injury report, revealing that defensive lineman Clelin Ferrell will miss the game. Here’s how the injury report looked:
– DE Clelin Ferrell (knee) – DNP
– CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr. (thumb) – LP
– DT Jer’Zhan Newton (foot/rest) – LP
– DE Dorance Armstrong (chest) – FP
– TE Zach Ertz (rest) – FP
– S Quan Martin (hamstring) – FP
– T Brandon Coleman (ankle) – FP
– CB Benjamin St-Juste (groin) – LP
Ferrell is out after being limited on Friday and not practicing Saturday. Emmanuel Forbes is questionable after undergoing thumb surgery but could return.
Jer’Zhan Newton and Zach Ertz appeared on the report for precautionary reasons and are expected to play. The remaining players are good to go.
The Commanders will need to bring their best as they face the Bengals, especially with a rookie quarterback making his first primetime appearance on the road.
