Denver Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles underwent X-rays and an MRI on his ankle, which both came back negative, revealing only a bruise, head coach Sean Payton announced Monday.
Bolles exited during the second half of Sunday’s season opener and did not return. Matt Peart stepped in to cover the left tackle spot.
The Broncos lost 26-20 on the road after the Seattle Seahawks surged with 17 second-half points.
Maintaining stability on the offensive line is crucial as Denver turns to rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Nix completed 26 of 42 passes for 138 yards, but threw two interceptions in his NFL debut.
Denver is gearing up for its home opener this Sunday, with the Pittsburgh Steelers set to visit.
Bolles, the Broncos’ first-round pick in 2017 (20th overall), celebrated his 100th career start in Sunday’s game.
