The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Anthony Banda on the 15-day injured list due to a left hand fracture, corresponding with Brusdar Graterol’s activation. Graterol, returning to the bullpen after a brief 2024 debut, initially feared his season was over due to a hamstring strain. However, an MRI revealed it to be a Grade 1 strain, sparking hope. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted the relief Graterol felt once learning of the less severe injury. Graterol resumed throwing shortly after a brief break and pitched in rehab assignments on Sept. 3 and 6.

Graterol’s season debut had been delayed due to right shoulder inflammation that surfaced during Spring Training. Though originally expected to be ready for the Dodger Stadium opener, his recovery faced setbacks, and he was ruled out of the Seoul Series.

Meanwhile, Banda, who has made 46 appearances with a 2-2 record and a 3.23 ERA, sustained his left hand fracture in uncertain circumstances. His injury likely ends his season, a blow to the Dodgers’ bullpen depth. Banda, 31, has struck out 50 batters over 47.1 innings, becoming a reliable arm for most of the year before recent struggles, possibly due to overwork. Banda was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in May and has played parts of eight seasons in the Major Leagues with several teams, compiling a 9-8 record and 4.99 ERA across 136 games.
